[Children Liturgy]

Children's Liturgy takes place during the first part of the Sunday Mass except on the first Sunday of each month when the mass
is orinented towards  families with young children and the youth of our parish.

The Children's Liturgy is aimed at children up to the time when they make their First Holy Communion at 8. Once they begin the
programme towards this they are expected to  remain in church for the whole of the mass.

Children under the age of 4 have to be accompanied by an adult.

The purpose of the Children's Liturgy is to enable them to understand the theme of the readings, especially the gospel,
for that Sunday  in a way appropriate to their age. The children rejoin the rest of the people in the mass at the Offertory when they join the procession and present what they have done to Fr Keith.

Because of the requirement's of the Child Protection Procedures all those working in the leadership team have been cleared
to work with childen. Any adults who are accompanying children on a regular basis in the Children's Liturgy will also need to be
cleared to work with children as they are in contact with other children in the Church. We consider accompanying a child for more than 3 weeks would constitute 'regular'. It helps us to have a number of parents who have been cleared because of the requirement to have a minimum of 2 cleared adults present and a minimum ratio of 1 adult for every 10 children (the target is 1 to 6).

Please speak to the parish Child Protection Advisor, Margaret Knight, or one of the leadership team in the Children's Liturgy for
details of how to be cleared.
